cSCAN is an interdisciplinary enterprise to advance knowledge of how humans perceive, make sense of, and respond to their social world. We are a collective of researchers from the complementary fields of psychology, biology, engineering, physics, computing science, and social robotics.
Our aim is to develop advanced approaches that combine classic paradigms from social, cultural, and biological psychology, with those from cognitive and vision science, computer graphics, and mathematical psychology. cSCAN aims to train the next generation of researchers with a unique toolkit to address the evolving needs of the modern human social world.
cSCAN members lead a strong international research network, with editorial board membership of prominent journals (e.g., Psychological Science, JEP:General), substantial ERC and RCUK funding, and on-going research projects with many industrial partners (e.g., Oculus/Facebook, Dimensional Imaging).
